The Stoutson work platform is designed and built for rugged work environments, such as heavy construction, road building, ship building, and industrial MRO. These environments require a work platform that supports a versatile range of tools and allows for precise tolerances. These industries typically buy tools through industrial distributors rather than retail stores.
Many work activities apply vertical force (e.g., a drill press), horizontal force (e.g., a table saw, a grinder), and reciprocal motion (e.g., scroll saw). A vertical force is directed downward, improving stabilization. However, forces in a horizontal direction, compounded by a top-heavy weight distribution, act to destabilize. Reciprocal motion worsens instability.
Commonly used work stands have a small footprint and, while top-heavy, are unstable and run the risk of toppling. This limits the type of tools that can be used, and the environments in which they can be used.
